Position Overview
We are currently seeking qualified and experienced Health Care Assistant (HCA) Instructors to teach in our Lab, Theory, and/or Clinical components of the HCA program. Instructors may be assigned to morning or evening shifts, Monday through Friday, and occasionally weekends as needed. Positions are available at our Surrey campus, with opportunities also available at our Abbotsford campus. Clinical placements will take place within the Greater Vancouver Area area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in theory, lab, and/or clinical settings.
  • Supervise and evaluate students during clinical placements in multi-level/complex care settings.
  • Support and guide students in their understanding and application of clinical skills.
  • Maintain a positive, student-centered learning environment.
  • Participate in program development and evaluation as required.


Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current unrestricted registration as an LPN, RN, or RPN with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Teaching Competency: Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (e.g., Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent, or prior teaching experience with satisfactory references or evaluations).
  • Clinical Experience:
  • At least two years of full-time Canadian nursing experience (1 year = 1400 hours).
  • Experience working with older adults with complex health needs.
  • Experience or orientation in home support and multi-level/complex care.
  • Cultural Safety Training: Evidence of completion of Indigenous cultural safety and humility coursework (e.g., San'yas training or equivalent).
  • BC HCA Practice Course: Evidence of completion of the Health Care Assistant Practice in BC course (available via the Learning Hub).
