- The primary purpose of the role is to work with the Investment Products Advisory Group team of portfolio specialists and analysts, whose job it is to supports the promotion and positioning of RBC GAM investment solutions and capital markets views across Canadian retail and private client distribution channels. The team specializes in providing product support and producing impactful content and messaging in collaboration with our investment teams and marketing partners.
What will you do?
- Support the portfolio specialists and analysts with market and fund data requests from RBC GAM wholesalers and Investment Counsellors
- Source articles and craft messaging for weekly charts to support our sales partners
- Assist in the production of our Daily Market Update communication using internal web tools
- Maintain monthly fixed income reports and other regular reporting as required
- Assist with providing product and market-related material and charts and information to marketing and communication as needed
- Assist with coordinating conference calls and team meetings as required
- Participate in activities that are meaningful to the communication of product information to our client groups
- Administrative tasks as required
What do you need to succeed?
Technical skills
- Excellent computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word
- Specific excel skills include:
- Format data appropriately into list, chart, or graph forms
- Manipulate, organize and retrieve data through the use of formulas and logic functions (particularly vlookups)
- Knowledge of VBA is an asset although not required
- Experience with Bloomberg and Morningstar Direct would be an asset
Financial skills
- Good understanding of the economy and capital markets
- An understanding of the fundamental types of mutual funds and their structures
- An interest in investment management and desire to learn more about the industry
Soft skills
- Exceptional written communication skills, particularly distilling complex information
- Acute attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working both independently and as a part of a group
- Excellent time management skills and experience in multi-tasking
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, under various time restrictions
- Passion and enthusiasm for learning about the inner workings of the economy and markets
