We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. This position is critical for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company and carrier regulations. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, verifying package contents, labeling shipments, and coordinating with carriers. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a methodical approach, and a commitment to safety. Experience in a logistics or shipping department is highly desirable. This role may involve some lifting and requires attention to detail in all tasks. We provide the necessary PPE to ensure a safe working environment. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all shipping documentation, including bills of lading and shipping labels.
- Verify order accuracy against shipping documents before dispatch.
- Package items securely and appropriately for shipment, ensuring no damage occurs.
- Apply correct shipping labels and any required hazard markings.
- Schedule pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, LTL).
- Track shipments and provide status updates as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of shipping supplies.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and regulations, including the proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external carriers regarding logistics.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and carrier portals.
- Excellent data entry and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and best practices.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety standards and the use of PPE.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
