We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our logistics operations in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient movement and organization of materials within our warehouse. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that all materials are handled properly, safely, and are readily available for production or shipment. This position requires physical strength, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a secure work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and proficiently.
- Move raw materials, finished goods, and other materials throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper securing of loads.
- Organize and stack materials in designated areas, optimizing storage space.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stocktaking.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of PPE.
- Ensure all material handling activities support efficient logistics and production schedules.
- Be proficient in safe lifting techniques and manage tasks requiring significant lifting.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, free from hazards.
- Support team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operator certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong understanding of material handling equipment and safety procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, including frequent lifting of up to 60 lbs.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety best practices and logistics operations.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
