We are recruiting a skilled Material Handler for our New York City, New York distribution center. This role is critical for managing the flow of materials within our facility, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for receiving, storing, moving, and shipping materials, products, and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of warehouse logistics, a commitment to safety, and the ability to operate various material handling equipment. Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies.
- Store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and proficiently.
- Load and unload trucks for shipment and receiving.
- Transport materials to and from different areas of the warehouse as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and guidelines, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Conduct daily pre-operational checks on equipment.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Proficiency in operating various types of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Strong understanding of logistics and inventory management principles.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record may be required.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
