Job Purpose and Summary

This position is responsible for performing professional level work in the graphic design area for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Work involves the development and coordination of graphic design strategies and materials that promote the PTC's image and keep the public and staff informed of ongoing programs and activities. Work is performed primarily with independence and reviewed by a manager for attainment of program goals, completion of projects, and overall performance.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Creates and manages the organization's visual primary brand identity and program brands for E-ZPass, Toll By Plate, Go Orange Work Zone Safety and other initiatives. Provides strategic direction and creates graphics for internal and external visual communications including logos, brochures, newsletters, presentations, booklets, maps, annual reports, advertising materials, social media, website and digital graphics, and event materials. Creates graphic design concepts utilizing accessibility best practices. Writes, develops, and adheres to creative briefs and processes for the development of all communication products. Identifies and implements changes to current creative processes and procedures as necessary. Prioritizes and manages multiple projects within design specifications, deadlines, and budget restrictions. Researches, analyzes, and summarizes market trends to measure effectiveness of communication efforts. Participates in strategic planning efforts regarding marketing campaigns, social media channels and other projects as requested. Coordinates with other departments to ensure that all branding initiatives are aligned. Supports the organization during weather activation by creating and managing graphics social media and service plaza digital signs. Proofreads, pre-flights and prepares various digital files. Maintains knowledge of current graphic design trends by attending design workshops and conferences, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional associations. Represents the PTC at various public events including trade shows, meetings, and other PTC events. Provides direction to assigned contracted vendors. Obtains and assembles information for vendors to use in developing final communications products. May evaluate requests for proposals (RFPs), plans, estimates, and invoices. Provides support with administrative duties when needed. Performs all related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Eight (8) years of experience in graphic design or related field; OR Four (4) years of experience in graphic design or related field

AND

a bachelor's degree in graphic design, digital arts or related field. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted. Demonstrated proficiency and experience designing in Adobe Creative Suite is required. Possession of a valid driver's license. Must obtain and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license within six (6) months of employment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Position demands include frequent speaking, writing, and reading reports. Position requires frequent work at a computer utilizing business programs and PTC specific operating systems. Position may require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. Position requires occasional travel and/or fieldwork with exposure to roadway traffic. Occasionally works outside of normal business hours for assigned work assignments.

Office environment with low levels of noise, adequate lighting, and comfortable temperature. Field environment may include exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable conditions. Physical environment is generally safe, but safety equipment or precautions must be followed in field conditions.
