About Strescon Limited

Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollowcore slabs, precast pile, and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia.  

In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.  

Job Summary

We are seeking an entry‑level Precast Design Engineer to support the design of precast and prestressed concrete elements for a variety of construction projects. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who has a foundational understanding of structural engineering principles and a strong interest in precast concrete design. This role is designed for early‑career engineers who want to build expertise in precast concrete design. You'll receive mentorship, hands‑on project exposure, and support in developing professional credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of precast/prestressed concrete elements under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support preparation of design drawings and basic calculations for precast components.
  • Work with architects, contractors, and other team members to help ensure design requirements are met.
  • Learn to conduct structural analysis and apply relevant codes and standards with supervision.
  • Provide technical support during different phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Attend project meetings to observe and contribute ideas to design discussions.
  • Develop an understanding of precast concrete design principles and construction practices.
  • Participate in ongoing training and stay informed about standard codes and practices.

Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (recent graduates welcome).
  • Coursework or internship experience in concrete design considered an asset.
  • Interest in learning structural analysis tools such as E‑Tabs.
  • Willingness to pursue professional licensure with company support.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and support multiple projects with guidance.
  • Strong organizational skills and eagerness to meet deadlines.
