Job Overview:
The Pastry Manager at Safta's Table is responsible for expertly executing and maintaining exceptional desserts and baked goods that reflect our brand's identity and culinary excellence. While pastry concepts and development originate from the Pomegranate Hospitality office, this role ensures consistent, high-quality production from preparation to final presentation. The Pastry Manager oversees day-to-day pastry operations, upholding standards, ensuring accuracy in recipe execution, and delivering a guest experience aligned with the restaurant's vision. Collaboration with the General Manager and the Culinary Director is essential to maintaining hospitality, consistency, and the integrity of Pomegranate's culture and values in every product, process, and interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of pastry production, ensuring consistent execution of recipes and presentation standards developed by the PH team.
- Maintain the highest levels of quality, consistency, and food safety in all desserts and baked goods.
- Manage daily production schedules, prep lists, and plating for service.
- Coordinate ingredient sourcing, ordering, and inventory management to ensure cost efficiency and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with leadership to support seasonal features, special events, and menu rollouts provided by the PH team.
- Ensure full compliance with all sanitation, safety, and health regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pastry workspace at all times.
- Provide feedback to the PH team to help enhance processes, efficiency, and overall product quality.
- Balance operational needs and guest expectations with a commitment to excellence and hospitality.
- Uphold and model Pomegranate Hospitality's core values in every interaction and decision.
Experience/Skills:
- Degree or certification in Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- 2-4 years of pastry experience in a high-volume or fine dining environment.
- Proven ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative, time management, and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency.
- A creative mindset with the ability to balance innovation and guest approachability.
- Knowledge of ordering, inventory control, and cost management.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in basic PC applications (Word, Excel); experience with Toast or similar systems is an asset.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for extended periods, often for the entire shift.
- Lifting and carrying items up to 25 pounds.
- Reaching, bending, and stooping to perform tasks around the bar area.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of activity.
