We are seeking a skilled Material Handler for our active warehouse in Detroit, Michigan. This role is crucial for the efficient movement of goods throughout our facility. The Material Handler will be responsible for receiving, storing, and transporting materials using various types of equipment. A strong understanding of warehouse operations, safety procedures, and material handling equipment is essential. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Move materials within the warehouse using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
- Store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper stacking and organization.
- Receive and document incoming materials, verifying against purchase orders.
- Transport materials to and from production or shipping areas as needed.
- Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently; maintain equipment in good working order.
- Keep the warehouse environment clean, orderly, and free from hazards.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform regular safety checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Must be proficient in lifting and moving items up to 70 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift certification (or willingness to obtain one).
- Proficiency in operating various material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety best practices and logistics operations.
- Ability to read and understand work orders and shipping documents.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to perform demanding tasks.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and others.
