Reporting to the Manager of Applications, the Jr. Epic Applications Specialist will provide day-to-day support and assistance for Clinical and Business Information Systems at Codman Square and DotHouse Health. This entry-level position is designed for candidates eager to grow their skills in healthcare IT. This role will assist with troubleshooting, user support, documentation, and training while learning to work with Epic EMR and other clinical/business applications. This position offers hands-on experience in a community health center environment, with mentorship and opportunities to build expertise in healthcare technology systems. There is an expectation and requirement of this role to achieve EpicCare Ambulatory proficiency within 3-6 months of starting the role. The first attempt at the exam must be taken during the first 90 days of the role. If the candidate does not pass, there is a firm expectation for the candidate to pass within the next 2 exam attempts, which must occur within the first 6 months of employment. If the candidate fails the following 2 exam attempts, the candidate may not pass their introductory period, and therefore, separate from Codman Square Health Center. Primary Responsibilities
Provide first-level support for Epic Ambulatory EMR and related applications. Assist clinical, operations, and patient care teams with basic system issues. Troubleshoot and escalate technical problems to IT/Helpdesk or vendor support when needed. Communicate resolutions clearly and courteously to end users. Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and teamwork in all interactions. Assist with Epic EMR configuration tasks under supervision. Monitor system error logs and report issues to senior staff. Participate in testing new features and workflows. Attend department meetings to understand user needs and upcoming changes. Support routine maintenance tasks for Orchard Harvest Lab Information System and Dentrix/Dexis Dental systems. Assist with upgrades and basic troubleshooting under guidance. Help prepare training materials and documentation for staff. Support training sessions on new features and upgrades. Maintain clear records of issues and resolutions. Other duties and/or locations as assigned. Qualifications
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong interest in healthcare IT and willingness to learn Epic EMR. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully. Self-motivated, reliable, and eager to grow in a team environment. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Codman Square Health Center. Preferred (but not required): Exposure to Epic EMR or other healthcare applications (Ambulatory, Cadence, Prelude, Resolute). Familiarity with basic workflows in appointments, registration, billing, or lab systems. Experience with Office365, databases, or report writing. This role is ideal for candidates starting their career in healthcare IT. You will gain hands-on experience with Epic EMR and other clinical systems, develop troubleshooting and support skills, and build a foundation for advancement into analyst or specialist positions. Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods (50% of the time). Must be able to lift 10+ pounds and load onto shelves.
