The Mission of the legal department is to advise, protect and enforce EBC's rights throughout the life cycle of a project: from business development to proposals, from execution to servicing built projects.
By joining EBC Legal Affairs, you will join a young and dynamic team at the heart of operations and risk management which supports management in its decisions. You will be called upon to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders within a growing company, but always focused on its values. EBC's legal affairs team includes 9 lawyers, 1 paralegal and 3 engineers, mainly located in the Montreal, Brossard, Quebec and Vancouver offices.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Legal – Disputes & Claims, you will collaborate closely with other legal team members, project teams, administrative divisions, and senior management to deliver diverse strategic and legal services across EBC's projects.
  • Analyze litigation files and recommend strategies for resolution. 
  • Advise project teams in advance on potential disputes. 
  • Contribute to the drafting and preparation of claims and litigation files. 
  • Provide legal guidance to resolve disputes effectively. 
  • Coordinate with external counsel and experts; monitor judicial or arbitration proceedings.
  • Support the continuous improvement of legal practices within the company. 
  • Train internal teams on best practices.

Requirements
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Law; member in good standing of the Québec Bar and/or another Canadian provincial bar since at least 2022.
  • 3–8 years of relevant experience in industry or law firm, in construction or commercial litigation. 
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other EBC offices or external sites on larger projects.
