We are looking for an organized and efficient Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Detroit, Michigan. This role is vital for ensuring that all products are prepared, documented, and dispatched accurately and on time. You will be responsible for coordinating shipments, maintaining records, and communicating with carriers and internal teams. Your role is key to the smooth functioning of our outbound logistics operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping documentation, including labels, packing slips, and bills of lading.
- Verify that outgoing shipments match order details and are correctly packaged.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers for pickup schedules and tracking.
- Conduct quality checks on outbound packages to ensure they are ready for transit.
- Maintain accurate shipping logs and update the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Communicate shipment status updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Operate shipping-related equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations, including the proper use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping department.
- Support the logistics team in achieving efficiency and accuracy in all shipping processes.
- Prior experience in shipping, receiving, or a similar logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and MS Office applications.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to handle tasks involving lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
