Job Summary

The Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in supporting national logistics operations by improving material flow from the Brantford plant and enhancing visibility across the organization. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded professional with both practical and theoretical knowledge of shipping and transportation principles.

In this role, you will manage active Bills of Lading (BOLs) for the Brantford site using the TMS Shipper's Workbench, resolve day-to-day logistics challenges, and collaborate closely with sales representatives, sales coordinators, the logistics team, and external service providers to ensure efficient movement of inbound and outbound shipments. A solid understanding of domestic and international transportation modes is essential, along with familiarity in documentation requirements such as Bills of Lading, TDG, and CUSMA.

The Logistics Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between carriers and the logistics department for all materials sourced directly from the Brantford plant across business units.

Success in this position requires strong communication, exceptional time-management, and effective organizational skills, as well as the ability to interpret dimensions, weight requirements, and shipping strategies to determine the most efficient shipping methods.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all inbound and outbound shipment paperwork, ensuring compliance with records retention guidelines and regulations regarding Bills of Lading.
  • Complete Customs and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) documentation for shipments, as applicable.
  • Problem solving as issues arise, working with our Operations Teams, Sales, and/or Administration to resolve
  • Work closely with carrier pool and other service providers to facilitate the movement of inbound and outbound shipments (domestic/international)
  • Oversight of stock for branches and actively participate in weekly stock meetings. This includes the coordination of all Oakville stock orders with local carriers.
  • Maintain and communicate product ready-list and follow up for al orders after initial communication to ensure product is continually being shipped.
  • Coordinate and manage all hooks for burning and return, scrap monitoring and bin exchanges
  • Manage and coordinate all courier shipments for Brantford plant
  • Assist in developing best practices for local shipping to improve lead times and cost efficiency
  • Effectively communicate any carrier issues that might impact operations
  • Provide consistent coverage for Shipping Supervisor for vacation and illness
  • Assist in annual inventory management count

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in JDE
  • Ability to identify problems, collect data and establish facts
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with branch departments.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems and Transportation Principles
  • Critical thinking, judgement and decision making
