We are hiring a Shipping Clerk for our busy warehouse in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, you will be essential in managing the outbound flow of goods, ensuring that all shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations. Your responsibilities will include preparing shipping documentation, verifying orders, coordinating with freight carriers, and maintaining meticulous records. This position requires a high degree of organization, accuracy, and a strong understanding of logistics processes. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are committed to providing a safe working environment and will supply all necessary PPE. While this role is primarily administrative, some physical tasks, including occasional lifting, will be part of your duties. Responsibilities:
- Process and prepare all outbound shipments accurately.
- Verify the contents of shipments against orders and packing lists.
- Create and affix shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with carriers for shipment pickups and deliveries.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date shipping records.
- Track shipments and provide status updates as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation and logistics regulations.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace in the shipping department.
- Follow all safety guidelines diligently, including the correct use of PPE.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role is required.
- Proficiency in shipping software and standard office applications.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to perform tasks involving occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Understanding of warehouse operations and logistics principles.
- Dedication to workplace safety and adherence to PPE requirements.
