About the Role
We're seeking a Senior Software/Data Engineer to join our product-oriented or internal services team as an individual contributor. You'll have direct impact on our products while gaining deep expertise in electricity markets, data feed processing, weather modeling, and our modern tech stack. This role emphasizes designing and building scalable, maintainable systemsnot just SQL transformations. You'll architect infrastructure that powers our forecasting capabilities and drives business outcomes. Key Responsibilities
Automate end-to-end ML operationsBuild and maintain pipelines covering data collection, preprocessing, model training, and deployment Optimize system performanceMonitor, profile, and enhance data processing workflows to reduce latency and improve efficiency Implement robust monitoringSet up real-time alerts and anomaly detection for critical data feeds Scale infrastructureLeverage distributed computing and parallel processing to handle growing data volumes Drive architectural improvementsIdentify and rebuild systems for better performance, maintainability, and cost efficiency Design for the futureBuild data infrastructure that scales seamlessly with business growth You'll be successful if in this role if you have: Senior-level expertise in backend services and data engineering using Python Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes/Docker) and data services (GCP, AWS, or Azure) Proven track record building production data pipelines and backend services with measurable business impact Experience working in large codebases with focus on refactoring and systematic improvements Background building scalable data monitoring and observability systems Your Approach: You thrive in complexity and find satisfaction in simplifying systems You make software more maintainable, scalable, and extensible You collaborate effectively while also driving independent projects to completion You leverage AI-augmented development tools to increase productivity Ideal Background: Senior Software Engineer with data-intensive systems experience Senior Backend Engineer with pipeline development expertise Senior ML Engineer with production infrastructure experience Benefits & Perks: Amperon is a company filled with smart, genuinely nice individuals who are passionate about data science, energy and working together to build a product that can have a lasting impact on our planet.
