Bridge Animal Referral Center (BARC) is a privately owned oncology-focused specialty practice offering medical oncology, surgery, and advanced CT imaging. We provide high-quality specialty care while maintaining a collaborative and compassionate environment for both clients and team members.
We are seeking a *Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)* to join our growing team. If you're skilled, compassionate, and thrive in a fast-paced specialty setting, this position may be the perfect fit.
*Position Summary*
The Licensed Veterinary Technician supports oncology and specialty services by delivering advanced patient care, assisting with diagnostics and treatments, ensuring accurate recordkeeping, and providing high-level client communication. This position requires strong clinical proficiency, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a specialty hospital environment.
*Essential Job Duties *
*Clinical & Technical Skills*
* Perform venipuncture, place IV catheters, administer medications, and perform diagnostic procedures.
* Induce, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia (including ECT procedures and CT anesthesia cases) in accordance with Washington State Veterinary Board of Governors scope of practice for LVTs.
* Perform radiographs and assist with CT imaging, following proper safety protocols.
* Perform advanced calculations (drug doses, infusion rates, conversions).
* Assist with oncology-specific treatments, patient preparation, and follow-up care.
* Conduct laboratory diagnostics including CBCs, chemistry panels, cytology prep, and urinalysis.
* Adhere to Washington State & DEA documentation requirements for controlled substances.
*Client Communication & Support*
* Obtain detailed patient histories and triage incoming patients.
* Communicate treatment plans, discharge instructions, follow-up recommendations, and medication information to clients clearly and professionally.
* Assist in resolving client questions or concerns and escalate issues when needed.
* Ensure all consent forms, procedure authorizations, and financial documents are completed.
*Patient Care & Hospital Operations*
* Provide compassionate, low-stress handling and monitoring of oncology patients.
* Maintain sterile technique and assist in minor procedures.
* Follow safety and infection-control protocols for immunocompromised patients.
* Support daily hospital flow and assist teammates as needed.
* Maintain accurate, detailed medical records.
* Stock exam rooms, treatment areas, and maintain equipment functionality.
* Work efficiently in a high-volume specialty environment with competing priorities.
*Minimum Requirements*
* *Current and active Washington State Veterinary Technician License (LVT)*—required.
* *Minimum 2 years of professional veterinary technician experience*, with strong preference for specialty practice, emergency, or oncology experience.
* Competency with anesthesia, venipuncture, diagnostics, and specialty-level patient care.
* Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and safely restrain animals.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
