We are seeking a certified and experienced Reach Truck Operator to join our bustling warehouse team in Chicago, Illinois. Your primary responsibility will be the safe and efficient operation of a reach truck to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. This role is vital for maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring the timely movement of goods within our logistics facility. You will navigate narrow aisles and high racks, requiring precision, spatial awareness, and a strong adherence to safety protocols. We prioritize a secure and productive work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a reach truck to transport pallets of goods to and from racking systems.
- Accurately locate and retrieve items for order fulfillment or replenishment.
- Stack and organize inventory efficiently and safely.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on the reach truck to ensure safety and functionality.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and regulations, including the correct use of PPE.
- Participate in inventory cycle counts and audits.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed, including picking, packing, and shipping.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area around the racking and in the operator's station.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
- Support overall warehouse logistics and operational flow.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification and proven experience operating a reach truck.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a high-rack environment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent spatial reasoning and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a hazard-free workplace.
- Good communication skills.
