We are seeking a meticulous Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Detroit, Michigan. This role is crucial for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, labeling packages, and verifying shipment details. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is paramount. Your work directly impacts customer satisfaction and the smooth operation of our supply chain. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Coordinate with freight carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Label and package outgoing shipments accurately.
- Verify shipment contents against order details and shipping instructions.
- Maintain organized shipping records and files.
- Communicate with internal departments and external customers regarding shipment status.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following Safety guidelines.
- Properly use all required PPE.
- Support the overall logistics department as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or administrative roles preferred.
- Proficiency in data entry and basic computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carrier websites is a plus.
- Understanding of Safety procedures in a shipping environment and the use of PPE.
- Ability to perform tasks that may involve some Lifting.
