We are seeking a diligent Material Handler to join our dynamic logistics team in the heart of New York City, New York. This role is critical for the efficient and safe movement of goods within our urban distribution center. As a Material Handler, you will operate specialized equipment, manage inventory placement, and ensure the smooth flow of materials to support various operational needs. The fast-paced nature of NYC requires individuals who are adaptable, efficient, and highly safety-conscious. You will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times and demonstrate proficiency in safe Lifting techniques. This position offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to be part of a crucial logistics operation in a major metropolitan area.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in confined spaces.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles with care and efficiency.
- Transport inventory to designated storage locations, ensuring proper organization.
- Perform regular inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
- Assist with receiving and shipping documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including strict adherence to Lifting guidelines and the use of PPE.
- Participate in inventory management tasks and cycle counts.
- Respond to material requests from various departments promptly.
- Contribute to overall logistics efficiency and operational goals.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler, preferably in an urban logistics setting.
- Valid forklift operator certification is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety regulations and procedures.
- Excellent physical condition and ability to work in varied temperatures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.
- Commitment to wearing required PPE and following all safety protocols.
- Adaptability and problem-solving skills.
