We are seeking a reliable and industrious Material Handler to join our Chicago warehouse operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the movement and organization of materials within our facility, ensuring a seamless flow of products throughout the logistics process. Key duties include receiving, inspecting, transporting, and storing various materials. You will operate material handling equipment, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure a safe and clean working environment. Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials for accuracy and damage.
- Transport materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
- Sort and organize materials in designated locations, ensuring proper stock rotation.
- Accurately record material movements and inventory levels.
- Operate various warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all housekeeping standards.
- Follow all established safety procedures and protocols, including the correct use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, such as cycle counting and reconciliation.
- Support shipping and receiving departments as needed within the logistics framework.
- Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Proven ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) safely.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including frequent Lifting of up to 50 pounds, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and the importance of PPE.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Understanding of basic logistics and inventory control principles.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime when required.
