The Field Service Technician is responsible for field service work performed on HPS products on-site. Communicates requirements to Production, Testing, Engineering and Quality Assurance and assists with elimination of similar issues in the future.  Assists customers with troubleshooting and coordinates various tests on units requiring repairs or modifications. The incumbent must be available for emergency situations and eligible for international travel.

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Determining material needs and ensuring they are produced and shipped to site.
  • Verify that kits are complete, tested and functioning completely.
  • Coordinating site visits with HPS Sales and Customers.
  • Preparing site work instructions for HPS personnel.
  •  Preparing site work instructions when customers agree to make site changes themselves.
  • Generating Field Service Reports and cost summaries for each service trip.
  • Updating and maintaining the FPR SharePoint site and Field Service calendar.
  • On-Site Commissioning Support
  • Completing mechanical rework, including changing out any damaged or defective parts.
  • Manage the process of a customer witnessing tear-down at HPS facilities which includes coordinating the initial test and inspection of the product to determine failure site and/or mode
  • Ability to conduct testing at a HPS test facility or during a Field Service assignment which includes Ratio, Phase relation, insulation resistance, etc…
  • Returned Materials Analysis and Reporting

Do you qualify? We are seeking: 

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Completion of a College Diploma/ Associate's degree/ Certification, with a degree or diploma in a technical field preferred (Technician/Technologist)
  • Internal Auditor ISO 9001:2015
  • Lock out Tag out, Working at Heights and Fall Restraint Training
  • Electrical Safety Training
  • Transformer Testing Knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of various types of transformers and their applications
  • Sufficient knowledge of electrical theory in relation to transformers so that test results can be properly interpreted
  • Experienced user of measuring and testing devices, hand tools, scopes, etc.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Proven project management capability
  • Background in magnetics or transformer construction/design
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Office, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work long hours locally or in remote international locations.
  • Ability to travel internationally with short notice.
