Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Transportation Planner / Engineer to join our growing team in Western Canada (AB or BC). This senior-level role will be a discipline lead for the Municipal Roads, Planning & Preliminary Design team and requires a recognized expert in understanding municipal client needs, transportation planning, preliminary design, transit integration, and managing complex multi-disciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in project management and quality assurance, leadership, business development, and strategic problem-solving skills. You will lead the development and implementation of transportation solutions, manage client relationships at the senior management level, and provide oversight and mentorship to a dynamic team of engineers and planners.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on transformative projects, contribute to the development of sustainable transportation systems, and build strong relationships with public and private sector clients in the British Columbia and Alberta markets (Western Canada). Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead municipal transportation projects and consultation programs with key stakeholders, agencies, and the public to ensure alignment with community needs. You will also guide the development of municipal plans, including transit integration scopes, and oversee the undertaking of preliminary design projects. You will provide technical leadership and oversight on multidisciplinary projects, ensuring quality deliverables such as technical reports, studies, and analyses meet required standards. Managing and supervising mid-sized teams and resources will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, as you direct project teams for successful execution and foster effective communication across all levels. You will review your team's work products to ensure accuracy and compliance, and manage project budgets to deliver assignments on time and within budget.

In this role, you will also build and maintain strong business relationships with both public and private sector clients, engaging with senior management to support ongoing and future projects. You will recruit, motivate, and mentor team members to encourage professional growth and help meet project goals and objectives. Additionally, you will support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients, while staying current with market conditions, transportation policies, standards, and trends in western Canada.
