Our New York City, New York facility is looking for experienced Forklift Operators to join our busy distribution center. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating various types of forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your primary focus will be on supporting the logistics operations by ensuring the smooth flow of goods within the warehouse, from receiving to shipping. This position demands precision, a keen eye for safety, and the ability to maneuver heavy loads with confidence. You will be working in a dynamic environment where timely movement of inventory is critical to our operational success.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) safely and efficiently to move materials.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers.
- Transport raw materials, finished goods, and packing materials to and from designated areas.
- Inspect equipment before and after use, reporting any issues or maintenance needs.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and protocols, including the correct use of PPE.
- Maintain accurate records of material movement and inventory levels.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe warehouse environment.
- Support shipping and receiving activities as needed.
- Demonstrate proficiency in handling, lifting, and moving heavy objects within the logistics framework.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification and proven experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse setting.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and logistics.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
