Join our growing team as a Material Handler in Des Moines, Iowa! We are seeking reliable and physically capable individuals to support our warehouse operations. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for moving, organizing, and preparing materials for shipment or storage. This role is fundamental to the efficient functioning of our logistics network. You will operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to transport goods, and also perform manual tasks like loading and unloading trucks. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining a safe working environment; therefore, strict adherence to all safety protocols and the correct use of PPE is mandatory. This position requires consistent lifting of materials up to 60 lbs. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Organize and store materials within the warehouse according to established procedures.
- Prepare materials for shipment, including staging and wrapping.
- Conduct routine inspections of material handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE .
- Assist with inventory counts and stock checks.
- Perform manual tasks, including significant lifting , as required.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift certification is highly preferred.
- Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the use of PPE .
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor as needed.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Familiarity with logistics and inventory management systems is a plus.
