We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Material Handler to join our bustling warehouse facility in Houston, Texas. This role is fundamental to the smooth functioning of our logistics operations, ensuring that materials are moved, staged, and accounted for efficiently and safely. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, loading and unloading trucks, and organizing inventory within the warehouse. You will play a vital part in maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures. This position demands physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting. Attention to detail is crucial for accurate material identification and movement. You will be expected to follow strict guidelines regarding the handling of goods to prevent damage and ensure timely order fulfillment. Teamwork and communication are key, as you'll coordinate with supervisors and fellow team members to meet daily operational targets.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Stage materials for production or shipment.
- Organize and maintain inventory within the warehouse.
- Conduct routine checks on material handling equipment to ensure proper working condition.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory verification.
- Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Follow instructions for handling specific materials, including any special requirements.
- Support logistics operations by ensuring timely movement of goods.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role.
- Valid forklift certification preferred.
- Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures.
- Proficiency in using scanning equipment is a plus.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including frequent Lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to wear appropriate PPE, such as safety shoes and vests.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic inventory control principles.
