We are seeking a skilled Inventory Control Specialist for our established logistics hub in Chicago, Illinois. This critical role ensures the accuracy and integrity of our vast inventory, playing a pivotal part in our supply chain's efficiency. Responsibilities include conducting meticulous cycle counts, investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies, managing stock rotation, and implementing process improvements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a proven ability to work with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). You will collaborate closely with warehouse operations staff to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize losses. Safety is a top priority; adherence to all safety regulations and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is essential. - Execute daily cycle counts and full physical inventories.
- Investigate root causes of inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain the accuracy of inventory data within the WMS.
- Monitor stock levels, identify slow-moving or obsolete items, and recommend actions.
- Optimize warehouse layout for efficient inventory storage and retrieval.
- Coordinate with receiving, shipping, and operations teams to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures for inventory control.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and promote a safety-first culture.
- Mandatory and correct use of PPE is required at all times.
- This role may involve lifting items up to 40 lbs.
Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory control, preferably in a logistics or warehouse setting.
Proficiency with WMS software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree is a plus.
Knowledge of logistics and supply chain best practices.
Commitment to safety and proper use of PPE.
