Join our dynamic warehouse team in Chicago, Illinois, as a Material Handler. This role is integral to the efficient flow of goods within our facility. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving, storing, and preparing materials for shipment. Key duties include operating forklifts and pallet jacks, loading and unloading trucks, organizing inventory, and ensuring the workspace is kept clean and orderly. A strong commitment to safety protocols and a good understanding of material handling best practices are essential. This position is physically demanding and requires a reliable individual dedicated to supporting our logistics operations and maintaining high standards of productivity and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks, containers, and other vehicles.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and proficiently.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Organize and store materials in appropriate locations, ensuring accessibility.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, free from hazards.
- Strictly adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as required.
- Support the logistics team by ensuring timely movement of goods.
- Participate in safety training sessions and promote a safety-conscious culture.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is required. Experience operating forklifts and valid certification is a strong asset. Ability to perform significant lifting (up to 50 lbs) consistently. Understanding of warehouse safety procedures and best practices. Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in a physically demanding environment. Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic. Familiarity with logistics and inventory systems is helpful. A commitment to safety and the correct use of PPE is non-negotiable. Team player mentality and good communication skills are desired.
