Murphy's Bakery is seeking a reliable and hardworking Baking Assistant to support our baking team in producing high-quality baked goods. The ideal candidate will assist with various tasks in the preparation, production, and packaging stages, as well as ensure the bakery maintains high standards of cleanliness and hospitality. This role offers hands-on experience and growth opportunities for those passionate about the culinary arts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and producing baked goods, including accurately measuring and mixing ingredients, rolling dough, and shaping pastries according to established recipes.
- Operate and clean various baking equipment safely, such as commercial ovens, mixers, and dough sheeters.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure consistency and quality of products.
- Package and label finished baked goods for display and customer orders, ensuring visual appeal.
- Help manage inventory by monitoring stock levels of ingredients and supplies and communicating ordering needs to management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, sanitizing surfaces, and sweeping floors, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Pastry Chef
- Prior experience in a bakery or food service environment is preferred but not required; on-the-job training is provided.
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions precisely and consistently.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills are required for measuring and scaling ingredients accurately.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is strongly preferred (ServSafe Certification is a plus).
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.
