Kiso Hospitality is introducing a neighborhood bistro, a modern homage to timeless dining. The menu features pristine seafood, elevated interpretations of classic French and New American dishes. Complementing the cuisine is a beverage program highlighting classics with a curated wine list. The restaurant celebrates the art of fine dining hospitality while remaining approachable & fun.

Job Summary:

The General Manager is the senior leader responsible for all day-to-day operations, financial performance, guest satisfaction, and team culture for Kiso Hospitality s newest restaurant concept in Houston River Oaks/Montrose neighborhood.

This role oversees all front-of-house and back-of-house operations, drives excellence in hospitality and service, ensures health and safety compliance, and develops a high-performing team. The General Manager serves as the face of the restaurant and maintains strong relationships with both guests and staff, creating an environment that reflects the values and standards of Kiso Hospitality.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership & Hospitality
  • Represent Kiso Hospitality s core values and culture at all times.

  • Lead FOH and BOH teams with clarity, professionalism, and enthusiasm.

  • Oversee all aspects of guest experience, including VIP hospitality and service recovery.

  • Build strong guest relationships and manage guest feedback proactively.

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations including scheduling, payroll, opening & closing procedures, and facility walkthroughs.

  • Manage administrative functions and ensure smooth shift execution.

  • Maintain accurate POS systems, menu updates, and employee profiles.

  • Implement systems that ensure consistency, efficiency, and operational excellence.

  • Conduct regular health and safety walkthroughs; ensure compliance at all times.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and facility presentation.

  • Support community engagement and brand-building initiatives.

Staff Development & Culture

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate FOH hourly staff.

  • Lead by example with exceptional hospitality and service execution.

  • Build a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages growth.

  • Provide consistent coaching, performance management, and disciplinary action when needed.

  • Ensure ongoing training for all team members on products, service, and standards.

Financial Accountability

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, labor management, and financial planning.

  • Manage labor and operating costs to achieve revenue and profitability goals.

  • Monitor inventory, product usage, and waste control systems.

  • Ensure accurate reporting and timely communication with leadership.

Standards & Compliance

  • Maintain strong knowledge of the brand, menu, and guest expectations.

  • Uphold Kis Hospitality s values: people, learning, culture, relationships, sustainability, and stewardship.

  • Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards.

  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and ongoing development sessions.

  • Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be reachable via email and phone.

  • Proven leadership experience in hospitality management.

  • Ability to stay composed and professional in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of local health department regulations and workplace safety.

  • Food Handler s Certification or ability to obtain.

  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Proficiency with POS, reservations systems, inventory software, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.

  • Understanding of HR practices, leadership, and coaching techniques.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong vendor and partner relationship skills.

  • Degree in Hospitality or related field preferred.

  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol; alcohol certification required or obtainable within 6 months.
