Job Description:

The Banquet Sous Chef position requires a highly skilled and organized individual to assist the Banquet Chef in all aspects of planning and production of kitchen service.

This includes ensuring that all quality assurance standards are properly executed and upheld, and that culinary staff is directed in their daily duties.

Responsibilities:
  • Directs culinary team in the performance of their daily duties, overseeing accurate and timely production and supervising proper cleaning and sanitation of all kitchen equipment.
  • Assists Banquet Chef with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching of culinary staff, monitoring attendance to ensure schedules are being accurately followed.
  • Communicates directly with the front of house staff in relation to time guidelines, counts and special dietary restrictions during execution of service.
  • Conducts pre-service meetings with front of house team to review and overview menu items, ensuring the serving team has the information needed to properly present the menu to the guest.
  • Organizes, produces, and executes all events, assuming full responsibility in the absence of the Banquet Chef.
  • Monitors and ensures proper inventories of all cooking stations, supervises proper receiving, inspecting, repackaging, and storing of all food orders.
  • Maintains labor and food cost goals, and ensures all opening and closing procedures are properly completed by assigned team members.
  • Ensures full and proper uniform appearance and general personal hygiene at all times.

  1. Lead culinary team to deliver high-quality food service
  2. Manage inventory and maintain accurate records
  3. Collaborate with front-of-house team for seamless execution
  4. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of kitchen equipment

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proven experience as a sous chef or lead culinary role
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
