Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opening for a Quality Assurance Inspector at its refinery located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position is located in the Maintenance organization and reports to the Inspection Manager. This position does include relocation. We are seeking a highly motivated Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity and reliability of process equipment and piping systems throughout the refinery. This includes conducting thorough inspections, identifying potential risks, and verifying compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with various refinery operating areas and collaborate with inspection teams to develop and execute inspection plans, analyze data, and recommend corrective actions. You will play a critical role in maintaining safe and efficient operations by proactively addressing mechanical integrity issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Serves as the quality assurance coordinator who provides site Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) guidance and monitors the work activity of MPC employees and contractors on site/off site for compliance with Marathon-specific policies and procedures as it relates to work on Fixed Equipment, Rotating, Insulation/Coatings, Civil work, and Tanks. Interfaces with the contractors performing mechanical routine maintenance activities, providing guidance as needed to ensure compliance with required standards and procedures. Coaches third-party QC contractors and facilitates meetings on the QA/QC process. Follows piping and pressure vessel fabrication or repairs at outside vendor facilities; reviews and approves vendor Nondestructive Examination (NDE) procedures and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Assists routine maintenance and project engineering to ensure the proper MPC site quality documents are included in Request for Quotation (RFQ) for piping and fixed equipment. Assists unit inspectors, reliability/project engineers, to develop pressure equipment repair plans to comply with API/ASME codes and MPC standards and specifications. Performs QA activities associated with Routine Maintenance work as well as projects and Turnarounds. Plans QA coverage for extended work periods such as projects, outages, and turnarounds. Education and Experience: Minimum (Required) Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED is required. 2 years (2) or more of inspection experience in fixed equipment, reliability, and maintenance required. Availability for a Monday-Thursday 10-hour shift schedule, on-call weekend rotations, and support for Turnaround and shutdowns as required. Valid Driver's License upon hire. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required and completed API 510 and API 570 certifications.
