We are currently hiring for an energetic and reliable Purchasing Chef/Hotel Receiver to join our Team
The Purchasing Chef / Hotel Receiver is responsible for managing the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of all food and beverages and accepting hotel deliveries. This role also assists in purchasing ingredients and supplies required by the kitchen, ensuring product quality, inventory accuracy, and adherence to food safety standards. Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect all deliveries of food, beverages, and supplies for quality, quantity, and accuracy
- Ensure items are delivered at appropriate temperatures and in compliance with food safety standards
- Check invoices and delivery notes against purchase orders and report discrepancies
- Label and store all products in their appropriate storage areas (dry store, fridge, freezer, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in receiving and storage areas
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) practices to reduce waste and ensure product freshness
- Assist in ordering food and non-food items based on kitchen requirements and par stock levels
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and best pricing
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in conducting regular stock counts
- Ensure purchasing records are up to date and properly documented
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to forecast food usage and procurement needs
- Accept all deliveries for incoming departments
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in food purchasing or receiving in a hotel or restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Time Management
- Basic Math and computer Literacy
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
- Proficiency in Craftable is an advantage
- Must be willing to work holidays and weekends on occasion
