As a Plant Operator, your primary responsibility will be to treat wastewater, determine water quality, and release treated water to city publicly owned treatment works. The Wastewater Plant Operator plays a significant role in maintaining the safety and health of the environment. Schedule: 5am to 6pm availability required (8 hour days within that time frame is typical) Compensation: Wages starting at $20/hr (no prior industry experience required!) Location: 1980 Avenue A, Mobile, AL 36615, USA Essential Functions Responsible for mixing the wastewater chemicals and adding to them as needed. Manages the space for incoming wastewater and treatment of the material. Performs cleanup of the area as required. Checks tank levels for necessary space for material processing. Follows all safety and compliance rules and regulations. Wears and properly uses safety equipment at all times. Always works in a safe and compliant manner. Operates and maintains shop equipment. May perform preventative maintenance on all equipment. Operates heavy equipment, including forklift truck and skid steer. May perform minor electrical maintenance functions. Cleans and maintains process equipment. Perform all other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills The ability to learn procedures related to the safe handling of materials. Ability to communicate with others for safety and efficiency requirements Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent (Required). One (1) year of experience as a Plant Operator with the maintenance of water pumps and plant machinery (Preferred).
