LEGAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – COMMERCIAL LITIGATION

On behalf of our client, TEEMA is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant, Commercial Litigation . The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a Canadian law firm. The position offers 2 days a week from home after the probationary period of 3 months onsite.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with other legal assistants, paralegals, lawyers and clients regarding file progress
  • Draft and transcribe legal documents, basic pleadings and correspondence
  • Manage and maintain bring forward system for tasks and appointments
  • Organize meetings, trials, and other court dates
  • Prepare application records
  • Keeping files up-to-date
  • Process all outgoing correspondence and sort incoming mail
  • Preparing monthly accounts
  • Prepare expense reports
  • Other various general administrative duties, as required
What you MUST have
  • Positive, professional, can-do attitude
  • Completion of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant
  • Advanced computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Keyboarding at a minimum or 60wpm
  • Excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills
  • A thorough understanding of civil litigation rules and procedures
  • Excellent written (grammar, spelling, proofreading) and verbal communication skills
  • High level organizational skills with a strong attention to detail to produce quality and accurate work
  • Ability to prioritize tasks by deadline, work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to take initiative and be proactive, as well as follow instructions and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a contributing member in a team environment
Compensation + Benefits

The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $81,000 + RRSP, 3 weeks holiday, 12 personal days, salary review annually, and many more benefits!
