Patient Care Technician - Emergency Department-Night
Position Highlights
- Position: Patient Care Technician
- Location: Glenbrook Hospital
- Full-time: 32 hours per week
- Hours: night shift(11pm-7:30am), w/ rotating weekends
What You Will Do
- Perform a variety of patient care activities under the supervision of nursing staff.
- Maintain visual, auditory, and manual attention throughout the shift.
- Utilize manual dexterity for sustained periods of time.
- Assess patients and read/record information accurately in charts.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare team members, and coworkers-often while all parties are masked.
- Work safely in environments that may include exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, chemicals, and other hazards.
- Manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet patient care needs.
- Use appropriate patient movement equipment for non-emergency lifts and transfers.
- In urgent situations, may need to assist with lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Wear required PPE, including N95 mask or PAPR, when applicable.
- Perform frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the shift.
What You Will Need
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training course preferred.
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association (must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not current).
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize and follow through on instructions.
- Basic computer skills.
