Customer Quality Engineer
Location: Allen Plant, Gastonia
The Customer Quality Engineer serves as the primary liaison between the customer and internal teams, representing the customer's voice within the plant. This role ensures that customer-specific requirements are met, manages quality-related communication, and drives the resolution of quality concerns. The Customer Quality Engineer also plays a key role in maintaining strong customer relationships and promoting continuous improvement in quality processes.
Main Tasks
- Serve as the main point of contact for customer quality representatives after SOP.
- Coordinate and support customer quality-related visits and audits, ensuring timely investigation, correction, and verification of audit findings.
- Proactively visit customer sites to maintain relationships and address quality concerns.
- Manage and maintain customer quality portals, ensuring accurate and timely submission of documentation and responses.
- Provide expert guidance on customer-specific requirements and ensure compliance across internal processes.
- Prepare and submit required customer documentation (requalification data, PPAP packages, etc.).
- Coordinate PPAP submissions related to Technical Change Management (TCM) and communicate requirements with the customer.
- Lead the deviation and concession process with customers.
- Evaluate internal nonconformities based on customer standards and ensure appropriate resolution.
- Manage customer complaints (0 km and field), leading cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and corrective actions, and submit formal reports within customer timelines.
- Document field complaints in SAP WM, negotiate technical factors, reject invalid claims, and initiate alerts when necessary.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, promoting the effective use of quality tools and methodologies.
- Exercise authority to stop production or shipments in cases of serious nonconformance, safety, or environmental risk.
Your Profile
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Fluent in written and oral English communication or customer's language(s).
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Expertise in Quality Management Systems, Problem Solving, FMEA, PPAP, and Statistical methods.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure adherence to quality parameters.
- Experience with Power BI a plus.
