Are you a residential master craftsman who thrives on building with your own two hands?

Oborne Contracting is an award-winning, fast-paced, and highly respected residential renovations company serving the Greater Toronto Area. We are currently seeking skilled, hands-on professionals to join our team as Site Foreman (Lead Carpenter/Project Manager).

This is not a "clipboard" management job. If you are most comfortable with a tool belt on, leading from the front, and delivering top-quality work, we want to hear from you.

We are looking for individuals who combine advanced technical ability with leadership skills and a genuine passion for the trades.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Minimum 10 years' hands-on residential construction experience (Journeyman level or higher)
  • Proven ability to perform framing, finishing carpentry, and layout at a high level
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting residential drawings, specifications, and building codes
  • Strong practical knowledge of structure, framing, building envelopes, and finishing systems
  • Experience with a wide range of residential scopes (including plumbing, electrical, drywall, and painting etc.)
  • Professional attitude, strong work ethic, and pride in workmanship
  • Able to maintain focus and endurance through physically and mentally demanding projects
  • Ability to lead by example — working alongside your crew and ensuring quality standards
  • Clear communication skills for interacting with homeowners, subcontractors, and inspectors
  • A solutions-first mindset when site challenges arise

Your Day-to-Day Role:

  • Layout, framing, demolition, rough-ins, insulation, drywall prep, trim work, and finishings
  • Coordinating and directing trades and other staff
  • Managing materials, deliveries, and site organization
  • Performing detailed quality control inspections
  • Maintaining high site safety and cleanliness standards
  • Communicating daily with project managers, clients, and office support
  • Proactively solving site problems to keep jobs running smoothly

This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role. You will work on-site every day, with tools in hand, actively building and guiding the team to deliver high-end results.

Requirements:

  • Must own a reliable work vehicle (truck, van, or trailer)
  • Full set of personal tools suited for all construction related work
  • Current certifications: WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid, MOL Supervisor Training
  • Red Seal Carpenter certification strongly preferred

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage leading to approximately $70,000 – $100,000+ annually, based on skills, certifications, and leadership contribution.

This is a role for experienced builders who want their craftsmanship and leadership to be valued, not just managed.

If you take pride in real building skills and want to be part of a company that values quality over shortcuts — we want to hear from you.

Please submit your resume or a detailed email outlining your experience and why you're a fit for our team.

Serious tradespeople only, please.

(Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.)
