Reporting to the Service Advisor/Garage Foreman, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic carries out a variety of maintenance duties, repairs and overhaul of municipal vehicles and equipment.  In addition, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining shop equipment and tools, completing detailed work orders and records, providing mechanical advice to shop helper(s) and instructing/training apprentices.

This position requires occasional overtime, necessary due to operational requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Assets include the ability to speak and write in both English and Inuktitut, and northern experience.  Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.

Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate and/or Red Seal and Driver's License are required at time of application.  The successful candidate would be required to submit a Criminal Record Check, as well as an acceptable Driver's Abstract.
