Lead Hand

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations in our metal fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of metalworking processes, leadership experience, and the ability to coordinate production schedules, ensure quality control, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of welders, fabricators, and general laborers.
• Plan and assign work to meet project deadlines and production goals.
• Ensure all fabrication work meets company quality standards and project specifications.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and fabrication details.
• Monitor material usage and inventory; coordinate with purchasing for material orders.
• Inspect finished products for accuracy, dimensions, and quality.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
• Train, guide, and motivate team members to achieve high productivity and performance.
• Communicate with project managers and office staff regarding progress, issues, and schedules.
• Identify and resolve production challenges in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications :

• Minimum 5 years of experience in metal fabrication or a related field.
• Supervisory or lead-hand experience in a fabrication shop setting.
• Strong knowledge of welding, cutting, and assembly processes (MIG, TIG, stick).
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings and technical plans.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of health and safety standards and procedures.
• Valid Class G driver's license (preferred).

Assets :

• Experience with CNC, laser cutting, or press brake operations.
• Familiarity with powder coating, galvanizing, and finishing processes.
• Certification in welding or metal fabrication.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
