Overview
Are you someone who enjoys organization, attention to detail, takes pride in their workspace and enjoys ensuring things look just right?

In this active, physical role, your core focus is organization, presentation, product care/condition and cleanliness. Your ability to work independently, receive direction and execute will be critical. Your efforts and results will play a key role in reducing loss through damages and waste, aid in accuracy of inventory and help improve the customer experience overall.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to move materials weighing up to 100 pounds

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, cold, heat, rain, wind etc.

  • Work between multiple locations when/where required

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take all necessary safety precautions when handling freight, tools, and equipment

  • Store material in correct locations in the yard, warehouse, covered storage

  • Ensure products are full, replenishing from overstock and reporting low inventory to management

  • Keep products clean and the inventory neat and orderly in sellable condition

  • Be familiar with the locations(s) of all inventory and equipment

  • Assist with promotional displays and internal flyers

  • Perform all tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service.

  • Be aware of theft and take action, in line with company policy, to report or discourage it

  • Restocking of inventory when they are depleted

  • Check incoming merchandise against orders or invoices, identify damaged goods, shortages, and backorders and report to management

  • Report any shortages, damaged goods, and backorders to management

  • Work on any special projects assigned by your supervisor/management, after determining their priority in relation to your other duties

  • Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management

  • Assist when/where required with inventory cycle counts and report to the Inventory Controller/Purchaser

  • Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.

SUPERVISOR/MANAGEMENT ASSIGNED DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

At anytime your supervisor may request your support. The below are some examples of what to expect:

  • Work toward completing a daily list of items/zones/areas of accountability

  • Follow procedures and maintain standards according to store policy in the following areas: loss prevention, receiving, merchandise handling and presentation, housekeeping, and restocking

  • Advise the designated manager of shortages, damaged goods, back-orders etc.

  • Help unload incoming trucks when/where required

  • Check incoming merchandise against invoices to spot shortages, damaged goods, back-orders, etc.

  • Willingness to continually develop professional skills and knowledge base

  • Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays when required

  • Friendly and helpful attitude toward customers

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, management, and customers

  • High School graduation or equivalent an asset but not required

  • Willingness to learn

  • Prior retail experience beneficial

  • Prior merchandising experience beneficial

  • Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere
