*Job Summary*
The TCVM Veterinarian is responsible for providing comprehensive and integrative medical care to animal patients by combining the diagnostic capabilities of Western medicine with the holistic treatment modalities of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). The ideal candidate will work to identify patterns of disharmony in the body and develop personalized treatment plans to improve patients' quality of life, particularly for chronic, geriatric, or complex conditions.
*Responsibilities and Duties*
* *Patient Examination and Diagnosis:*
* Conduct thorough physical examinations and gather detailed medical histories, including lifestyle and diet information, from pet owners.
* Perform TCVM diagnostic techniques (e.g., pulse taking, tongue observation, palpation of acupoints) to determine a comprehensive diagnosis.
* *Treatment Planning and Execution:*
* Develop and implement integrative treatment plans using TCVM modalities such as *acupuncture*, *herbal medicine*, *Tui-na* (medical massage), and *food therapy*.
* Administer treatments like dry needle acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, or moxibustion.
* Prescribe and dispense appropriate herbal formulas and counsel owners on tailored dietary changes.
* Collaborate with other veterinarians, physical therapists and specialists, using Western medical approaches for acute injuries or specific diseases when necessary.
* *Client Communication and Education:*
* Communicate effectively and compassionately with animal owners about diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and at-home care instructions (e.g., acupressure techniques, diet preparation).
* Educate clients on the philosophy of TCVM and how it complements conventional veterinary medicine to achieve optimal patient wellness.
* Public relations and education (whether that be to staff, veterinarians, clients, potential clients, or the general public) about the profession of animal rehabilitation and what PT can offer as a profession
* Participation in marketing efforts
* *Documentation and Compliance:*
* Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records for all patients, documenting examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and communications.
* Adhere to all state and federal regulations governing the practice of veterinary medicine and the use of controlled substances (e.g., certain herbs).
*Qualifications and Skills*
Certification (or pending) TCVM required
Self-starter and team player
1+ year(s) experience is a plus
Excellent client relations and interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Commission
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
