Animal Care Associate

Valley Oak SPCA is looking for a compassionate Animal Care Associate to provide hands-on care for dogs and cats at our Adoption & Education Center. This role focuses on feeding, cleaning, exercising, enriching, and monitoring the health of our animals while supporting staff and volunteers.

What You'll Do:

• Feed animals and prepare special diets as needed, ensuring proper nutrition for each pet.
• Clean and maintain kennels, enclosures, and common areas to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
• Exercise and provide enrichment for animals daily, including training with treats or simple commands.
• Observe animals for signs of illness or stress and report concerns to supervisors.
• Administer medications or treatments as prescribed by the shelter veterinarian.
• Maintain accurate animal records, photos, and information in PetPoint software.
• Assist volunteers and adopters in safely interacting with animals.

What We're Looking For:

• Passion for animal welfare and respect for all animals.
• Previous animal care experience preferred, but we provide training for motivated candidates.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, indoors and outdoors, and follow established protocols.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb stairs, and lift up to 35 lbs.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures.
