GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Prepares metal and other surfaces on aviation ground support equipment for painting. Applies primers, synthetic enamels, polyurethane, and epoxy with spray guns, brushes, and rollers to ground support equipment. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares various surfaces of equipment and vehicle interior and exterior components by mechanically and chemically removing old paint and rust, filling cracks, sanding, and applying fillers and base coats.

Mixes, thins, blends, matches, tints, and tones coating materials.

It applies coating materials using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other means of application.

Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures, following established rules and regulations, and maintains a safe and clean environment.

Uses and maintains tools.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED plus one (1) year of experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience operating standard spray paint equipment: buffers, paint guns, sanding equipment, dual-action orbital sander, and common hand tools.

Must have your own tools.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
Must be able to work various assigned shifts, including evenings and weekends. Subject to emergency call-in.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment. Must be able to carry 70 pounds; must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time. Must have sufficient vision and ability to perform the position's essential functions safely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Airport environment: Generally, Indoors. Occasionally, it could be Outdoors.
