The Role:

RRC is seeking a talented Network Engineer (Mid Level) to join our dynamic team. As a Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, configuring, implementing, testing, and troubleshooting network systems, ensuring their stability, security, and optimal performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, plan, and implement network solutions, including switches, firewalls, and routers, to support the efficient operation of our network.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define network requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational needs.
  • Configure and optimize network devices to ensure seamless communication and network availability.
  • Monitor network performance and security, proactively identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities, bottlenecks, or issues that may impact system functionality.
  • Conduct regular network assessments, performance evaluations, and system audits to maintain the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, protocols, and processes to facilitate troubleshooting and knowledge sharing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network-related incidents, minimizing downtime and ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and suppliers to ensure the integration of their products and solutions.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in network design and implementation.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to junior engineers and technical support teams as needed.
Ideal Profile:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate clear technical cybersecurity and programmatic understanding of all NERC CIP standards.
  • Firewall experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto, and CISCO.
  • Experience with switch manufacturers such as CISCO, Hirschmann, and Moxa.
  • Ability to analyze network security requirements and implement perimeter security changes.
  • Strong Knowledge of data communications/telecommunications principles and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of security principles, best practices, and industry standards
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, SNMP, Modbus, DNP3, and Ethernet/IP, as well as familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
  • Proficiency in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting network components, such as switches, firewalls, and routers.
  • Hands-on experience with network security practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption methods.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies and network virtualization.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
  • Proven experience in network performance optimization and capacity planning.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, SCADA-specific certifications, and cybersecurity certifications are a plus.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work seamlessly in cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of the renewable energy industry and projects a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site deployments, maintenance, and collaboration with remote teams.
