Our client roster includes a great degree of varying technologies, spanning from small offices to large enterprises. The goal of this position is to standardize network design, policy and procedures, applying a standard across as many clients as possible. This is achieved through creation of processes, automation, and policy.
The immediate task of the Lead Network Consultant (LNC) is transitioning the Networking Team from a separate group into a system of automation and processes that can be performed by the larger group of technical staff. In the immediate, the LNC is responsible for management of the current dedicated network team throughout the transition, as well as managing resource sharing for general Technology Consultants and Support Technicians to support the new initiatives of the network group. To this end, the LNC will collaborate with the Managing Partner on establishing and deploying network policy, automation, monitoring, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for both the existing network team members and collaborating Technology Consultants.

*The role will have 2 primary areas of focus: *
*Tier 3 Network Engineering *
* Conduct (and review/advise on) network assessments of client infrastructure, with a focus on performance, security, access, new services/hardware, etc.
* Keep accurate and updated documentation for supported environments
* Design physical, electrical, security and cooling requirements for business networks considering supportability, security, and functionality
* Provide support for escalated network tickets
* A key project will be migrating about 300 clients on SonicWall firewalls over to Cisco Meraki MX firewalls
*Current Network Team Oversight *
* General team management, including but not limited to:
* Facilitation of recurring meetings
* Standard Operating Procedure development, implementation, and training
* Employee management, including recurring performance reviews, day-to-day coaching, and performance management (in collaboration with Leadership and HR)
* Team career and skill development via training, coaching, etc.
* Collaboration with Managing Partner to research new technology to determine best solutions for client needs and determining fit inside of support stack/services
*Required Competencies & Qualities: *
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
* Analytical skills: must be able to examine data networks and decide how to best connect the networks based on the needs and resources of the organization.
* Detail oriented: create comprehensive plans of the networks they are creating with precise information describing how the network parts will work together. Create on-going support documentation.
* Interpersonal skills: These workers must be able to work with different types of peers, clients and vendors to accomplish their goals.
* Mentorship skills: Ability to mentor Technology Consultants who build the networks they have designed.
* Persuasive communication: Gaining consensus with other engineers on the technical benefits of the chosen solutions.
* Organizational skills: Computer network architects who work for large firms must coordinate many different types of communication networks and make sure they work well together.
* Experience managing Cisco IOS-based switches (Catalyst)
* Experience managing and deploying Cisco Meraki networking equipment
* Knowledge of SonicWall firewall administration
*Minimum Requirements *
* Minimum of 7 years’ experience IT with 4 years in a consulting capacity and 3 years in internal, or an equivalent combination of experience.
* Bachelor’s degree engineering or computer science, preferred
* Experience designing, implementing and supporting Local Area Networks (LAN); including configuring new equipment, as well as working with existing configurations. Extensive experience working with multiple vendors’ switching equipment, best practices and LAN design principles.
* Experience designing, implementing and supporting Wide Area Network (WAN); including configuring new equipment, as well as working with existing configurations. Extensive experience working with firewalls and routers. Experience interfacing with multiple ISPs to recommend, install, and maintain business Internet connections
* Experience with designing and implementing business-to-business and site-to-site VPNs
* Experience integrating security into solutions both locally within a business, as well as externally when interfacing to the Internet and with business partners
* Knowledge of and experience with regulations and standards for networking equipment
* Knowledge of the Managed Services Provider industry standards, tools, and best practices
* Commitment to documentation and procedures
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
