Quality Assurance Technical Lead Join Octopus Money as a highly motivated and experienced QA Technical Lead to build and lead our QA practice. The ideal candidate will champion quality for our technology product and help us build the world's most impactful, fully‑automated financial advice solution.

With our hybrid model, you can work remotely 2 days a week while remaining based at our London office.
Role and Opportunity As a QA Technical Lead, you will grow and establish our QA processes, promote a quality‑first culture, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality, reliable software. This pivotal role requires strategic thinking, technical expertise and collaborative leadership.
Day to Day
Act as a QA advocate across the technology division, promoting a quality‑first mindset.
Build, mentor and lead a high‑performing QA team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Developers, DevOps and stakeholders to embed quality throughout the development cycle.
Communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences about QA activities, findings and risks.
Define and establish QA processes, standards and metrics for all stages of the lean software development lifecycle.
Identify and introduce appropriate QA tools and technologies to optimise effectiveness.
Build and maintain a robust automated testing framework.
Track key quality metrics and provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders.

Knowledge And Experience Required
Deep experience in a QA leadership role, building and scaling QA practices in a web‑based SaaS environment.
High EQ – build strong relationships, communicate with empathy and welcome feedback.
Strong proficiency with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium).
Deep understanding of software testing methodologies, principles and best practices.
Experience with security testing principles and tools.
Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
Proven people‑leader (at least 2 people), preferably in a fast‑paced environment.
Able to work three days a week onsite at our London office.
Nice to Have
Previous experience with Playwright.
Familiarity with the AWS Cloud Platform.
Experience in Go, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript.
Delivering QA processes to ISO 27001, SOC 2 or similar standards.
Knowledge of financial services.
ISTQB or other relevant testing certifications.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
Perks & Benefits Competitive base salary £90,000‑£110,000 DOE plus benefits, including private medical insurance, enhanced parental leave, pension and more. You’ll also receive an 18‑day work‑from‑anywhere allowance to swap onsite days or work from another country (subject to compliance).
Flexibility to work from home 2 days per week and hybrid model from our London office.
