Position Overview
Toll International is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the World Trade Center Department's Project Delivery Division within the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The selected professional will assist in managing high-profile capital projects across One World Trade Center, Two World Trade Center Redevelopment, the Transportation Hub, and Retail facilities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in construction and design project management, the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and experience ensuring project scope, schedule, and budget compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers in the day-to-day management of capital improvement and redevelopment projects.
- Coordinate project initiation, planning, and execution, including site visits and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Review and evaluate design and construction documents, including drawings, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Collaborate with facility operators, property managers, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
- Establish and maintain project budgets, cash flow analyses, and schedules.
- Participate in consultant and contractor procurement processes, including scope development and proposal evaluation.
- Support construction implementation in coordination with Engineering Construction Management.
- Prepare project reports, presentations, and documentation to update senior and executive leadership.
- Ensure projects comply with Port Authority standards, contract parameters, and quality requirements.
- Oversee project closeout, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management or assistant project management roles, preferably in high-rise commercial, transportation, or retail construction.
- Demonstrated ability to manage design development and construction implementation processes.
- Knowledge of multi-discipline design and construction principles, building codes, and project risk management.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across departments and present to stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn Port Authority software and reporting systems.
- Ability to perform site visits, including climbing ladders and entering confined spaces as required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a 10-hour OSHA safety certification immediately upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with capital projects exceeding $100 million in value.
- Familiarity with Port Authority project management policies, capital authorization, and document control systems.
- Experience managing or supporting multi-use projects (transportation hubs, high-rise commercial, institutional, or cultural facilities).
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license in New York or New Jersey.
- Strong understanding of cost management, risk mitigation, and scheduling methodologies.
