_*GENERAL:*_

*POSITION SUMMARY:*
The *Clinical and Staff Educator* is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for clinical and non-clinical hospital staff to ensure competency, professional growth, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role serves as a resource for evidence-based practice, patient safety, and quality improvement, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship across departments. The Clinical and Staff Educator administers and manages learning platforms, including Relias and RQI, to track, maintain, and report staff education and competency compliance. This position collaborates with executive leadership, department managers, and quality teams to identify educational needs, develop programs, and promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development throughout the organization.
*Essential Job Functions*
* *Education & Training*
* Develops, coordinates, and implements educational programs for clinical and non-clinical staff to support competency, professional development, and compliance with regulatory standards.
* Conducts orientation and onboarding for new employees, ensuring staff are trained in policies, procedures, and clinical skills relevant to their roles.
* Assesses ongoing educational needs of staff and develops training plans based on identified gaps, quality data, and departmental goals.
* *Competency Management*
* Designs and manages competency assessment processes for clinical staff in collaboration with department leaders and subject matter experts.
* Ensures documentation of staff competencies meets hospital, state, and federal requirements.
* Provides coaching and remediation for staff who require additional skill development.
* *Learning Management Systems Oversight*
* Administers and maintains the *Relias Learning Management System*, including assigning courses, monitoring completion rates, tracking compliance, and generating reports for leadership and regulatory purposes.
* Oversees the *RQI (Resuscitation Quality Improvement)* platform, ensuring staff participation, timely completion of required modules, and coordination of ongoing resuscitation competency programs.
* Collaborates with department leaders to align online learning assignments and RQI participation with organizational training needs and regulatory requirements.
* *Clinical Practice Support*
* Serves as a resource and role model for evidence-based clinical practice, patient safety, and quality improvement.
* Participates in policy and procedure development, review, and implementation to ensure alignment with best practices.
* Observes clinical performance and provides direct feedback to enhance quality of care and staff performance.
* *Program Development & Evaluation*
* Develops educational curricula, learning objectives, and evaluation tools to measure program effectiveness and learner outcomes.
* Utilizes adult learning principles and various teaching modalities, including simulation, classroom instruction, and e-learning.
* Continuously evaluates and updates education programs to reflect changes in standards, technologies, and organizational priorities.
* *Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation*
* Ensures educational programs, competencies, and documentation comply with accreditation and regulatory agency standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA).
* Supports preparation for surveys and audits through staff education, training records, and compliance tracking.
* *Collaboration & Leadership*
* Collaborates with nursing leadership, department managers, and quality teams to align education initiatives with organizational goals.
* Acts as a liaison between clinical departments and administration to identify and address staff development needs.
* Participates in hospital committees, workgroups, and projects related to clinical education, safety, and quality improvement.
* *Professional Development*
* Maintains current knowledge of clinical education trends, adult learning theory, and evidence-based practices.
* Serves as a mentor and resource to staff pursuing professional growth or certification.
* Models professionalism, accountability, and a culture of continuous learning.

_*QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: *__To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. _*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE*_
* Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred or ability to attain same within five years. Five years of nursing experience, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity preferred.
* Current Wyoming Registered Nurse license
* Familiar with Wyoming State Nurse Practice Act
* Ability to navigate multiple technology platforms successfully required
_*LANGUAGE SKILLS:*_
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write policies and procedures that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
_*MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:*_
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and is knowledgeable in metric, apothecary and household measurements and can convert from one system to another.
_*REASONING ABILITY:*_
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to modify care based on the developmental / functional age of the patient as well as that of the patient's ethnic background.

Ability to act as a patient advocate. Ability to interact with patients, families, visitors and co-workers. Ability to interact assertively and tactfully when dealing with conflict and in group solving activities. Ability to demonstrate a professional, open minded approach in identifying problems and resolving problems/conflicts.
*Age Specific:*
Must be able to provide care according to the developmental level and/or chronological patient served. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying the needs and abilities of each patient, and demonstrating an understanding of how a patient’s chronological and developmental age influences his/her need for adaptations related to his/her abilities. Also, an understanding of how a patient’s age impacts his/her ability to deal with and adapt to the care needed/provided is required. General census of neonatal to geriatric patients.

The employee is subject to inside and possibly outside weather conditions. Pay: $32.84 - $51.89 per hour
