JOB SUMMARY:
The Junior Medical Physicist / Dosimetrist works under the Qualified Medical Physicist (QMP) to support the Radiation Oncologists and Mountain View Hospital with the full range of applications of radiation physics for imaging, planning, and treatment delivery through participation in all clinical settings where radiation patient care is delivered. The Junior Medical Physicist / Dosimetrist works under the QMP to support the Mountain View Hospital in all of the settings that house radiation producing equipment with guidance to meet all federal and state guidelines for monitoring and safety as directed.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Junior Medical Physicist/Dosimetrist
Performs and Documents QA activities including, but not limited to, measurements involving radiation devices and equipment.
- Performs patient chart checks for any errors, prescription changes and image review changes that may have occurred throughout the course of treatment, under the supervision of a QMP.
- Maintains and properly uses dosimetry equipment such as ionizing chambers, electrometers, water phantom scanning systems, daily check devices, ion chamber arrays, computers used with equipment, computer software, thermometers, barometers, small tool inventory, etc.
- Assists the QMP in acceptance testing and calibration of new equipment.
- Perform external beam radiotherapy planning, when needed, under the supervision of a QMP.
- Performs patient specific QAs of the approved radiation treatment plans, QA and QC tasks occasionally require work in the evenings.
- Provides support for Mountain View Hospital's brachytherapy programs to ensure that patient selection, treatment planning, stepper and ultrasound operability, radiation delivery and documentation meet all Nuclear Regulatory Commission, American College of Radiology, American Association of Physicists in Medicine, and the State of Idaho regulations and guidelines under the supervision of a QMP.
- Assists the QMP in performing functions related to facility radiation safety, which include but are not limited to building of regulatory reports, radiation surveys, shielding analysis, and personnel badges.
- Participate in other technical activities under the direction of a QMP, to ensure coverage during critical staff shortages.

Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Minimum of master's degree in medical physics or related program from a CAMPEP-approved program, graduation from CAMPEP approved residency or equivalent.
Experience:
Work experience is preferred, but not required.
Equipment/Technology:
Experience with Eclipse and Aria is preferred.
Language/Communication:
Must be proficient in English

Excellent judgment dependability, conscientious performance. Detail oriented, Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Caring and empathetic. High ethical standards. Mechanical ability and manual dexterity for operating complicated equipment.
Performance:
The candidate is expected to be eager to learn and willing to step in where needed. The candidate needs to be organized with excellent attention to detail. Depending on experience, the candidate will begin with daily and weekly clinical physics duties, then work into treatment planning.
