Why this role stands out This work is
not traditional basis-setting . Instead, the focus is on exploring
new variables, new datasets, and new ways of thinking
about risk. The team has access to
underwriting data and other unique sources
that most actuaries never see, and they constantly test how these can reshape assumptions, pricing approaches, and risk understanding across Protection and S&R.
Someone who recently worked in the team confirmed that there is a
good amount of hands‑on coding
— particularly in
Python and SQL
— and the projects are genuinely interesting, innovative, and unlike typical actuarial work. The combination of high-quality data, technical depth, and intellectual freedom is a big part of what makes this team distinctive.
What you’ll be driving
High‑impact research that challenges established assumptions and pushes the industry forward.
Integration of cutting‑edge modelling and analytics into core actuarial processes.
Commercially relevant insights that directly inform pricing, underwriting, and client strategy.
Exploration of novel datasets — including wellness, medical, underwriting, and digital data — to redefine risk assessment.
Representation of the business in industry forums and thought‑leadership discussions.
What they’re looking for
A qualified actuary with strong technical foundations and a real appetite for innovation.
Experience in analytics, pricing, R&D, or similar environments.
Someone comfortable coding in
Python, SQL , and working with advanced modelling techniques.
A collaborator who enjoys solving complex problems, thinking deeply, and influencing strategy.
